Performance testing of a
new component design
The maker of a commercial mower wanted to validate
the durability of a new component design by (1)
capturing operating loads on the existing design and
(2) using finite element techniques and the strain
test data to predict fatigue life. A SixD engineer designed the measurement methods and
instrumentation that were used to capture loads data under a variety of
operating conditions; data was then fed through the fatigue analysis
process.
Benefit:
Customer was able to quickly validate a newly
designed component, gaining confidence in the
durability of the new design.
Services:
Test methods development
Custom instrumentation design
Data analysis & interpretation
