Acceleration data measured from an engine can be
processed to reveal more information than may be
apparent by viewing only the time history
waveform of the acceleration signal.
Figure 1
shows the acceleration time waveform recorded
while the engine is run up from low to high rpm.
Zooming in on a segment of the time history
shows some more detail (Figure 2) but the signal
is still complicated. The time versus rpm curve
(Figure 3) shows the engine rpm at any
particular time during the speed sweep.
