As part of a domestic car manufacturer’s program to design automobiles for world markets, one of SixD’s engineers participated in a road loads data acquisition (RLDA) project to measure customer usage on various road surfaces in the Middle East and Far East. The project involved a mix of structural, drive train, temperature, and pressure measurements to support chassis and drive train design as well as heat management. Roughly 100 channels of data were taken on each vehicle. Our engineer provided high-level consulting on the data acquisition system as well as guidance in making realistic compromises in the field that would still satisfy the primary research goal: capturing statistically meaningful measurements of foreign operating environments.

Results:   Car-maker has the information necessary to target design modifications that increase their market share around the world.
